After working on your presentation for awhile, you may find a need to do some editing, and you'll want to move text from one slide to another or cut some out entirely. You can do this using the Cut, Copy, and Paste functions. You might decide that you text works better on a different slide so instead of retyping it, you want to copy and paste it. All of that can easily be done using PowerPoints cut, copy, and paste functions.
Cut - Removes selected text from one place and temporarily stores in on the clipboard.
Copy - Makes a copy of any text that was selected and temporarily stores it on the clipboard.
Paste - Places both cut and copied text into another location.

Click a placeholder on your slide where the text you want to edit is located. The placeholder opens for editing.
Click and drag across the text you want to edit so it is highlighted.
Click on the Edit menu. Click Cut from the Edit drop-down menu. The text you selected is removed and placed on the Windows Clipboard.

PowerPoint Tutorial: Paste Text
Find the slide and the placeholder where you want to paste the text.
Click a text placeholder and it will open for editing.
Click where you want to insert the text. A vertical line will appear indicating where you are going to paste the text.
Click Edit from the Edit menu. Click Paste from the Edit drop-down menu. The cut or copied text will be inserted into the placeholder where the vertical line is located.
The text will be inserted into the slide at the location of your mouse pointer.
TIPS - Keyboard Shortcuts
There are keyboard shortcuts for doing almost everything in PowerPoint. The shortcuts for the Cut, Copy and Paste are listed below. Once you learn the shortcuts, editing text in PowerPoint is a breeze.
Copy Shortcut - Press Ctrl- C to copy text or anything else that is selected on a slide
Cut Shortcut - Press Ctrl-X to cut text
or anything else that is selected on a slide
Paste Shortcut - Press Ctrl-V to paste the most recent item that was cut or copied to the Clipboard. Until you cut or copy another piece of text or other object, it remains on the clipboard and you can paste it as many times as you like.
TIPS - Undo and Redo Commands
There will be times when you cut, copy, or paste text and afterwards, you'll think to yourself... I really didn't want to do that. Thankfully we can undo those times when we really weren't thinking very clearly.
If you just cut, copied, or pasted text, you can click Edit and then Undo to undo the action. If after you've undone the action, you rethink it and decide that you wanted to do it after all, Click Edit Redo.
