A friend of me gave the following tip. He does not have Net access so I post it instead of him

Automatic merging (mixdown) of tracks can be effectively automated by holding down keys:
1) Start recording of one track
2) Start recoding another while holding down ALT+TAB+CONTROL
3) End recording by clicking stop button while holding down both SHIFT
keys and AltGr key.
4) This will automatically merge both tracks according to Tom
