Docking Audacity toolbars can be done from the View menu. This tutorial will demonstrate how to dock and undock Audacity toolbars. This is also called "floating" the toolbars in Audacity. Watch the tutorial narrated tutorial below to learn how.
Docking Audacity Toolbars (Floating the toolbar)
There are four tool bars on the Audacity interface. By default, they are docked to the main window when the program is launched. They may be undocked so they can be moved around on the screen. This is called "float".
To undock a tool bar, click on the View menu and choose the Float tool for whichever tool bars you want to undock.
Float Control Toolbar moves the Control Toolbar out of the window and into its own floating window, so you can position it wherever you want. The menu item changes to Dock Control Toolbar, which you can use to put the toolbar back in its docked position.
The same procedure is used to float the Edit Toolbar, Mixer Toolbar, and the Meter Toolbar.
In the image below, the Control Toolbar has been undocked and is floating in its own window.
